A New Friend

Where Does My Worm Go?

Sydney was a little girl who loved exploring. One sunny morning, she found a cute little worm on her bedroom window. She decided to keep it as a pet and named it Wiggly. Sydney carefully placed Wiggly in a jar with some leaves. She felt happy to have her very own pet.
1
Every day, Sydney took care of Wiggly, making sure to feed it fresh leaves. But one day, she noticed something strange. Wiggly was missing from the jar, and in its place was a lump of cotton. Sydney searched everywhere, calling out for Wiggly, but she couldn't find it.

Feeling sad, Sydney went to her older brother, John. She cried and told him that her worm was gone. John listened carefully and then smiled. He told Sydney that the worm had turned into a cocoon. Sydney was confused but curious.
3
John explained that Wiggly was not lost. Instead, it was transforming inside the cocoon. Sydney's eyes widened with wonder. She couldn't believe her little worm was going to become something else. John promised to show her what would happen next.
4
Sydney and John watched the cocoon every day. They waited patiently for something magical to happen. Sydney was excited and a little nervous. She wondered what Wiggly would look like. Each day, the cocoon seemed to change a little.
5
One morning, Sydney noticed the cocoon moving. She called John, and together they watched in amazement. Slowly, a beautiful butterfly emerged from the cocoon. Sydney clapped her hands with joy. Wiggly had become a butterfly!
6
John explained to Sydney that the butterfly needed to be set free. Sydney felt a little sad but understood. She knew it was the right thing to do. Holding the jar open, she whispered goodbye to Wiggly. The butterfly fluttered its wings, ready to fly.
7
Sydney watched as the butterfly flew into the sky. It danced in the air, happy and free. Sydney smiled, feeling proud of her decision. She knew Wiggly was where it belonged. Sydney and John waved goodbye, excited for more adventures.
