A 5 year old boy named James  was having fun at recess. He was sliding down the slide and hurt himself. A 5 year old boy named trey saw that he was hurt and started to laugh and walked away. Trey looked over to James and pictured himself in James shoes. He thought about being hurt and something not helping him and just laughing. Trey walked over to James and told him what he thought about. James forgave him. Then they both slid down the slide and were friends!

James was excited for recess. It was his favorite part of the day. He ran straight to the slide, his short brown hair bouncing with each step. With a big smile, he climbed up and slid down, feeling the wind rush past him.

A Fun Recess

But one time, as James slid down, he landed awkwardly at the bottom. He hurt his knee and tears welled up in his eyes. Trey, with his short blonde hair, saw James fall. Instead of helping, he laughed and walked away.

As Trey walked away, he started to imagine if he was the one who got hurt. He thought about how sad and lonely he would feel if someone laughed at him instead of helping. Feeling sorry, Trey turned around and went back to James.

Trey apologized to James, telling him he understood how it felt. James forgave Trey, and they both smiled. Together, they went back to the slide. This time, they slid down together, laughing and cheering, now friends.
