Room #106 and the orange anxiety ball

Julie woke up early Monday morning, ready for first grade. As she got ready for school, she noticed something strange happening to her body. Her clothes did not fit her like they did the day before. Her body started to smell different. She felt uncomfortable and confused.

Julie didn't understand what was happening to her. Feeling alone and confused, she didn't want to go to school. Tears welled up in her eyes as she begged to stay home. Her mom gave her a hug and encouraged her to go, saying everything would be okay. Julie reluctantly agreed and started walking to her classroom.

As Julie walked towards her classroom, she spotted something bright on the ground. It was an orange glitter ball. She felt a sense of wonder and joy as she picked it up. Holding onto her new found treasure tightly, she entered the classroom. The ball made her feel a little better.

Throughout the morning, Julie was distracted by the ball. She found comfort in its sparkle whenever she felt lost or confused about her changing body. She held it tightly during reading time. She glanced at it during math. It made her feel safe.

During Grammar, Julie accidentally dropped the ball. It rolled away where she couldn't reach it. Julie felt her heart sink. She knew she had lost her special prize. She felt very sad and couldn't bring herself to tell anyone about it.

Julie sat at her desk, tears filling her eyes. The teacher noticed Julie's tears and came over to talk to her. Julie didn't know what to say. The teacher gently asked what was wrong. Julie just shook her head and wiped her tears.

The teacher reminded Julie that she was special and didn't need a ball to remind her of that. She encouraged Julie to pay attention in class the next day. Julie listened quietly. Despite losing her treasure, she felt a glimmer of hope. She knew she was valued and cared for.

The next day, Julie woke up feeling a little better. She remembered her teacher's kind words. She got ready for school with a smile. She knew she didn't need the orange glitter ball to feel special. Julie walked to her classroom, ready for a new day.
